Make my Cake and Eat it Too!
I have always loved to make delicious things. Some of my first concoctions included milkshakes with Mom’s leftover coffee, tubes of various flavors of sugar I made from mixing with Kool-Aid powder, and my own chicken soup comprised of every leftover in my fridge. Call it lack of supervision, I was flippin pancakes at five. I am sure this started when my mother, a restaurant manager, would frequently bring me to work. I had plenty of babysitters between the bartenders and sous chefs.
Today I have a terrible time following a recipe. It is not for lack of understanding, but for the passionate desire to correct the original writer with my flavor of understanding. I have a true heart for good ole’ home cooking as long as I can substitute a healthy spin. From my new Kentucky home I bring you a twist of vintage life in a modern world; full of food, antiques, hospitality, and the Junior League.
